El Molino de Agua Hotel: how it used to be before the fire
El Molino de Agua used to be a rural hotel in the beautiful town of Fataga (Gran Canaria). A fire hit our property and part of the palm grove, destroying a part of our accommodation.

The fire of the palm grove of Fataga
The fire occurred in 2019 in Fataga, near El Molino de Agua hotel, and hit our rural hotel and our beautiful natural surroundings, affecting 35 hectares.

Luckily, El Molino de Agua hotel was evicted on time and none of our guests were affected.
Over the months, we have considered how to continue offering rural accommodation in Fataga, in this quiet area of Gran Canaria, and we have reopened with a new accommodation concept: charming rooms and an RV Park or Caravan Park.
Rebuilding and reopening of El Molino de Agua
After the rebuilding of El Molino de Agua rural accommodation facilities, now it has accommodation in 14 rooms, including double, triple rooms and spacious suites with a dining room. All of them have the charm of the buildings of Gran Canaria and all the comforts.
Also, without a doubt, the great novelty is the opening of an RV Park or Caravan Park, where you can not only park and rest in Fataga, but also enjoy El Molino de Agua facilities, such as the pool and the barbecue.

Fataga, in the heart of Gran Canaria
Fataga is a small town that has 400 inhabitants and is located 5 km from the coast of Maspalomas. Fataga is located on a hill, in the so-called “Valley of a Thousand Palm Trees”.
Fataga is a rural town that has all the charm of the Canary mountains: cobbled streets, a picturesque church… As well as a bakery, a restaurant and a bar. The vegetation of the area includes cacti, succulents, palms and citrus: a natural paradise.

The beaches of southern Gran Canaria
The southern region, called Maspalomas Costa Canaria, has 17 km of beaches that begin in Tarajillo and continue all along Águila, San Agustín, Las Burras, El Inglés, Maspalomas and Meloneras. Very close to these beaches you will find beautiful natural landscapes of a unique and native beauty: the saltwater lagoon La Charca, Dunar de Maspalomas, etc.
Important: we are in areas that are protected because of the value of their fauna and flora, so please visit them and enjoy them while respecting their preservation.

Tirajana Crag, Pilancones Natural Park and Guayadeque Gorge
The natural heritage closest to Fataga, in Gran Canaria, includes the Guayadeque Gorge, which is 1500 m high and reaches the sea.
Also, Caldera de Tirajana can be explored to discover its native flora, as varied as it is spectacular, and Risco Blanco, 400 m high.

Charming villages of southern Gran Canaria
One of the most charming villages on the coast and near Fataga is Agüimes, with a spectacular historic headquarter, an Episcopal Palace and a church.
Another charming town is Sant Lucia, anchored in time, as well as the Lighthouse (in Maspalomas), 65 m above an oasis. The views are simply unforgettable.

Charming villages inland Gran Canaria
Inland Gran Canaria, several charming villages await you, as picturesque as they are traditional. Some of them are:
– Telde, headquarters of one of the aboriginal kingdoms of Gran Canaria, with San Francisco and San Juan neighbourhoods, as well as archaeological sites.
– Valsequillo, with a natural surrounding full of ravines, flowers and crops. We recommend enjoying the views from El Helechal Viewpoint.
– Ingenio (where sugar used to be ground) and its Stone Museum.

Soria Dam and Las Niñas Dam
The largest reserve in Gran Canaria is the Soria Dam, where the Arguineguín Ravine is also located. On the other hand, another main reservoir is Las Niñas Dam, with a recreation area and located in the region of Tejeda. You can swim, fish, do barbecues… Nature walks, photography sessions and the enjoyment of stunning views are just some of the things to do in this area.
